2012 AAPL Open Cup Champion

The winner of the AAPL Open Cup qualifies for the MFLS-wide Cup Winners Cup.
In 2012 the format will be 4 groups of 6 teams each, playing a 5 week Head-to-Head schedule where each team will play ALL other teams in the group once. A win will be awarded 3 points, a tie will be awarded 1 point and 0 points for a loss.
Matt (Seattle SC) will hold the placement draw on TBD.
For the 2012 AAPL Open Cup the Capital League teams will be drawn first into A1-C3, the two play-in game teams will be drawn into D3 and A4, and then the Colonial League teams will be drawn into B4-D6. All of these teams will be placed in a "pot" and drawn at random into each slot.
The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the Knockout stage. All ties will be broken as follows:
(1) Head-to-Head (2) Best Point Differential (3) Most Points For (4) Most MFLS Points Overall (5) Coin Toss.
The Knockout stage begins with the quarterfinals, where the teams will be paired up as follows:
A1 vs. B2, C1 vs. D2, B1 vs. A2, D1 vs. C2
The Knockout stage is two-legs for both the quarterfinal and semifinal matchups. The team with the greater total of MFLS points over those two weeks will advance. If a tie occurs in these two rounds the tiebreakers will be (applies to both weeks):
(1) Most Goals and PKs scored (2) Most Assists (3) Most MFLS Points Overall (4) Coin Toss
The Final will be a single match, with the team scoring the most MFLS points to be the AAPL Open Cup Champion. If there is a tie, the following tiebreakers will be used:
(1) Replay Match (the following week) (2) Most Goals and PKs scored (over both weeks) (3) Most Assists (over both weeks) (4) Most MFLS Points Overall (5) Coin Toss
